Associate Membership

This category of membership is suitable for persons interested in dispute resolution and who are qualified.

To gain admission as an Associate Applicants must be able to show that:

(a) they are a fit and proper person; and

(b) they have sufficient knowledge of dispute resolution processes through his or her experience and/or training to fulfill the syllabus requirements.

Note that knowledge of the AMINZ syallabus can be evidenced by relevant experience and / or training.   However the AMINZ Associate syllabus is taught at the Massey University Dispute Resolution Centre.

The means by which candidates may demonstrate that they have met the requirements for admission as an Associate member include any of the following:

(i)  Massey University Dispute Resolution Centre:  By attaining a mark of 50% or more in each of the following Massey University courses:

153:200 Introduction to Dispute Resolution; and

153:202 Law and Mediation; and

153.314 Dispute Resolution Advocacy or 153:201 Evidence and Advocacy; and

153:210 Dispute Resolution Practicum

Or

(ii)  Massey University Dispute Resolution Centre:  By attaining a mark of 50% or more in each of the following Massey University courses.

155:700 Fundamentals of Law; and

155.700 Elements of Dispute Resolution; and

153:210 Dispute Resolution Practicum

Or

(iii) By attaining a mark of 50% or more in each of the equivalent courses referred to above offered by any other university or tertiary educational establishment recognised by the Council as providing training for Associate members.  The University of Waikato School of Law, the University of Auckland Faculty of Law and Victoria University Faculty of Law all have courses that will be recognised as fulfilling at least some of the syllabus requirements.  Other tertiary institutions nationally and internationally may also provide education that will fulfill the syllabus requirements.  

Or

(iv)  By evidencing your experience of the AMINZ syllabus. 

Sometimes a mix of experience and training will fulfill the syllabus requirements. 

Experience and /or training need to be documented.
