Investigations are often necessary in the workplace, but getting a good result is challenging. Those investigating and those in a management position need to well understand how to conduct a safe investigation.

Chris Rowe, is a Mediator, Facilitator, Employment Relations Advisor and Investigator in private practice. She specialises in employment and small business, and has conducted a wide range of employment investigations in the public and private sectors. Chris regularly facilitates and coaches groups in employment related matters, and in conflict management and resolution. Chris is a Fellow (Mediation) and AMINZ Mediation Panel member.

David Patten, who is a Fellow of the Institute and presently a Council member, is a barrister based in Wellington. He has extensive experience in the areas of employment, education and rural law and in addition to his advocacy skills has conducted many investigations in both the private and state sectors. These have included investigations into allegations of staff bullying, harassment, corruption and other employment malpractices.
