AMINZ Network Meeting Auckland

AMINZ Auckland Breakfast meeting.

Emerging Issues in Dispute Resolution

  • How has technology changed mediation and arbitration?
  • What is ODR?
  • How are mediators and arbitrators getting involved in ODR?
  • What ethical concerns do practitioners face in ODR?
  • What other “hot issues” face ADR practitioners in the US? The American Bar Association (ABA) DR Section has just passed a Resolution addressing the need for diversity in the selection and use of professional neutrals. What changes might that bring?

Amy J. Schmitz is the Elwood L. Thomas Missouri Endowed Professor of Law at the University of Missouri School of Law and Center for Dispute Resolution.

Among her many accomplishments, Prof Schmitz is Co-Chair of the ABA Technology and Dispute Resolution Committee. She has been an expert and liaison for the United Nations working group seeking to create a global online dispute resolution mechanism. Further info on Prof Schmitz is available in the attached bio.

She will be visiting New Zealand to attend the ODR Forum in November and has kindly agreed to address an Auckland AMINZ breakfast – before heading off to enjoy some of our fine coastlines and walking tracks.
