Examining Restorative Processes under the Alternative Environmental Restorative Justice Policy.
Join us for the first Christchurch network meeting of 2019, with presenters Fiona Buchan-Ng and Vanessa Sugrue.
Vanessa Sugrue is a solicitor with the Canterbury Regional Council, tasked with the compliance and enforcement portfolio. She advises on appropriate enforcement responses using the Resource Management Act 1991. She assisted in the development and implementation of the Council's 'Alternative Environmental Justice' policy which is a diversion/ restorative justice scheme for qualified defendants, which is based around a conference facilitated by trained providers.
Fiona gained early experience in Dispute resolution by volunteering as a facilitator with Restorative Justice working between victims and offenders. This has expanded to include Family Violence and Alternative Environmental Justice. She continued the learning as a facilitator in the Department of Labour Employment Relations, and then moved to the Department of Building as a Mediator in Residential Tenancy. She is also a panelist for EQC Mediation Services.
We would like to thank Wynn Williams for their support of this event.
