Sexual Harassment in the Workplace
Join us at the first Wellington Mediator Dinner of 2019, with presenter Barbara Buckett and convenor Christina Tay.
Last year, Dame Margaret Bazley released a report on the subject of sexual harassment in the workplace. The Dominion Post had reported that the Government had begun collecting data on sexual harassment in the workplace and that MBIE has set up a centralised register for allegations of workplace sexual misconduct, under the direction of Minister for Women, Julie Anne Genter. Information may be gathered from mediation services, among other sources. Barbara Buckett is an employment lawyer who has represented clients in this area.
Barbara Buckett is a well-known employment law expert. She attended university in Christchurch and started her career as an advocate for the Engineers' Union. She currently practices in a boutique employment law practice in Wellington, Buckettlaw, where she is regularly called on to comment on employment law issues.
Christina Tay recently graduated with a masters in mediation and conflict resolution from Strathclyde University in the UK. Prior, she gained accreditation as a restorative justice facilitator. She is a Family Dispute resolution mediator, a member of the NZ Media Council and currently holds a position at the Parliamentary Counsel Office.
