Professional Experience

Lawyer since 1975, arbitrator since 1982. Formerly a university Senior Lecturer in Law, specialising in international commercial law and investment/development.

I am a very experienced construction adjudicator, and have been on the AMINZ list of adjudicators since its establishment in the early 2000s.

I am also a member of the AMINZ/Federated Farmers dairy conciliators' list.

Career Summary

1975 to date: private practice lawyer and university senior lecturer in law in both transactional and dispute fields.

Now substantially a transactional lawyer in international investment and business, including property, intellectual property, business structuring and commercial law.

In addition, 1983/5: export business; 1995 to date: director of companies in transport, motorsport, property, and apparel industries.


First appointed as an arbitrator in 1982; have practised extensively since as arbitrator, adjudicator, conciliator and mediator.


Co-author of textbooks "E-Commerce Law in New Zealand" and "New Zealand Conveyancing Law & Practice", and author of"E-Commerce Law" chapter in "Gault on Commercial Law" textbook.

Author of several dozen articles in specialist learned journals.

Personal Summary

Married, 2 adult sons.

Life member of motorsports organisations and former chairman and president of others.

Spare time activities include:motorcycle riding and racing, fishing both salt and freshwater, sailing and boating.
