Professional Experience

41 years in the NZ construction industry (architectural & engineering practice, medium sized and large construction companies); 27 years in private practice in $888M of disputes on $7.9B worth of projects;

Specialist in major contract claims for loss of productivity, disruption, delay, out-of-sequence work claims, critical path analysis of delays and disruption, extensions of time, quality and quantum issues;

Directly involved with the introduction of the NZ Construction Contracts Act 2002 and the Construction contracts Amendment act 2015.

Past Lecturer in adjudication for AMINZ Massey University Diploma in Business studies (Dispute Resolution) course. Lectured and addressed over 10,000 people on the Construction Contracts Act both in NZ and overseas since 2003.

Leaky Buildings expert in over 2000 commercial and residential claims in Court proceedings, Weathertight Homes Tribunal adjudications and Weathertight Resolution Services adjudication over the last decade and a half with claims up to $62M.

Sole author of "Adjudication in New Zealand" (2004);

"Constructing the Act" - the International Forum of Construction Contracts Acts and Adjudication, Malaysia (2005);

"The NZ Experience - the NZ Construction Contracts Act 2002", Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration, Malaysia (2006) "Developments in Adjudication & payment for the construction industry" - Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (2007) and numerous articles on adjudication and the Construction Contract Act since 2002.
