George Lyons farms a sheep/beef/cropping enterprise near Hastings and more recently has added mediation to his portfolio of specialist skills with includes local government, rural and environmental issues and educational governance.
George holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Dispute Resolution), is a Hastings District Councillor, has current RMA decision-makers certification and is a registered facilitator with the School Trustees Association and the Ministry of Education.
A nine year stint as chairman of the Hastings District Council Rural Community Board combined with farming has equipped him with a working knowledge of the Resource Management Act. He has experience of a number of rural dispute mediations.
He is currently working with a range of school boards in governance, facilitation and mediation roles.
