Debbie Bryan-Lamb

Present Position

Barrister and Solicitor, FDR Mediator, FDR Provider

Professional Experience

Debbie has been in practice as a barrister and solicitor since 2000. Debbie is an approved AMINZ Associate member on the Mediation Panel and FDR List. An accredited member of the New Zealand Law Society’s Panel of Mediators as a Family Specialist, Debbie has a Post Graduate Diploma in Child Advocacy and a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Dispute Resolution).

As a “people person” Debbie has excellent communication skills and extensive experience in working collaboratively with people from all walks of life. Debbie’s neutral perspective and cultural awareness enable her to address diversity between parties involved in the mediation process. Her ability to assist parties to take a fresh look at their conflict and at potential solutions, helps parties move beyond their dispute towards settlement.

Why mediate? Because these days mediation is a modern, practical, commercial way for parties to resolve their dispute. Mediation usually costs less than going to Court. Parties are given an equal opportunity and valuable forum to participate in and formulate their own agreement - in a confidential, unbiased and timely process. As an experienced lawyer, Debbie knows just how important it is for parties to gain an understanding of one another’s points of view and to be listened to, whilst working together to explore possible settlement options. Resolving a dispute during mediation also gives parties an opportunity to repair damaged relationships (personal or commercial), with the parties themselves ultimately determining what’s important for them and the best solution for their own situation. Debbie’s assistance also helps parties to develop smart skills and strategies to manage future disagreements.
