Arbitration and Mediation Experience

  • Arbitration and Mediation Law including acting as counsel in numerous arbitrations, mediations and settlement conferences;
  • Appointed Mediator for the Department of Building & Housing, Weathertight Homes Service in 2003. Conducted over 300 weathertight mediations both for the Department and privately.;
  • Conducted numerous private mediations on various commercial, contractual, domestic, sporting and property disputes;
  • Appointed adjudicator under the Construction Contracts Act;
  • Panel member for the New Zealand Disputes Resolution Centre;
  • Deputy Team Leader, New Zealand Law Society Litigation Skills programme;
  • Panel Member Mediator for AMINZ
  • Appointed to the Panel of the International Court of Arbitration-Sport (the first New Zealander to be appointed as a Mediator to the Panel)
  • Director of The Arbitration and Mediation Centre www.arbmedcentre.co.nz. The first facility of its kind to be established in New Zealand specifically designed to accommodate ADR work in an independent and neutral venue

  • Civil and Commercial Litigation including contractual and property disputes, construction law, administrative and constitutional law, security enforcement, insolvency (both corporate and personal), statutory and regulatory compliance issues, consumer protection and public law work, Sports and Educational Law;
