Family Mediation and Resolution Day

  • In Person and Online Auckland New Zealand (map)

AMINZ Family Mediation and Resolution Day is designed to equip mediators, legal professionals, child advocates, and other family dispute practitioners with practical skills and insights to manage complex family disputes constructively.

MC’d by Darren Rawlins, we’ll explore today’s key challenges in family mediation, including ethical decision-making, cultural competence, and effective collaboration across professional disciplines. Through interactive workshops, panel discussions, and hands-on skills sessions, participants will gain practical tools and fresh perspectives grounded in both Aotearoa New Zealand and international best practice.

The Programme

  • We have all sat across from someone who simply won't engage. Who pushes back, shuts down, attacks, or disappears behind a wall of silence. Sometimes we find a way through. Sometimes we don't.

This session won't be just another list of strategies to try. It will go somewhere far more important — an exploration of what is actually happening beneath the resistance, and what our part as mediators in all this really is.

You'll leave with new eyes, practical tools, and a question that hopefully changes how you walk into every mediation.

  • Gain insight into how the legal context shapes family mediation and discover opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Practice key mediation skills on real-life scenarios and gain feedback from facilitators and peers, fostering collaboration across professional disciplines.

  • Examine the practical applications and risks of shuttle mediation, integrating current sector trends and real-world challenges.

  • Strengthen cultural competence by learning to adapt mediation practices to diverse family structures, values, and expectations.

  • Join us for refreshments and conversation to wrap up a day of insights and learning.
