Join us for the next AMINZ Christchurch Network Event on Thursday 22 October, featuring guest speaker Professor Richard Jones. This session brings members together for an engaging session of discussion and connection with colleagues across the dispute resolution community, while exploring Richard’s specialist subject - neural engineering and the neurosciences.

This will be an informal and interactive session with the chance to hear from Richard about his research about Forensic Brainwave Analysis. Although FBA is a forensic tool, its findings highlight universal truths about human cognition: memory is fallible, stress distorts perception, and behavioural cues can be unreliable indicators of truthfulness. These are all matters Dispute Resolvers should consider.

Stay on after the session for discussion, networking and light refreshments.

This event is open to all members and non-members, everyone is welcome to join.

Professor Richard Jones

About Professor Richard Jones

Richard is an Adjunct Professor in Electrical & Computer Engineering and in Psychology at University of Canterbury and until recently was Director of the Christchurch Neurotechnology Research Programme based in the New Zealand Brain Research Institute, as well as a biomedical engineer & neuroscientist at Christchurch Hospital and a Research Professor in Medicine at University of Otago.

His research interests and contributions fall largely within neural engineering and the neurosciences, particularly within:

  • Human performance engineering

  • The Science of Attention and Microsleeps

  • Obstructive sleep apnea

  • Forensic brainwave analysis.
